MEC was pleased to host this month’s Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ) networking event. It was a full house at the sold out breakfast event, as we welcomed our guest speakers onto the panel:
  1. Catherine Shooter - Discipline Engineering Manager at BHP,
  2. Loren Ager - Principal of Learning & Development at MEC, and
  3. Negin Beaton - Development and Communications Coordinator at the University of Queensland and Senior Mining Engineer at MEC.

MEC’s Maria Joyce makes top 100 global list

Although we’d expect nothing less of our MEC powerhouse Maria Joyce, we’re delighted to share that she has been named one of the world’s top 100 women in mining. Non-profit UK organisation Women in Mining (WIM) has named Maria, MEC’s General Manager – Strategy and Business Development, as one of its ‘Top 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining’. Their search extended across the entire mining sector, including related and supporting industries, and all roles, ‘from mine to office, from explorers to C-Suite, from finance to compliance and ESG to government/non-government agencies’.

Balancing Feminine and Masculine Energy: Key topic at MEC’s Women in Mining breakfast

MEC hosted a Women in Mining and Queensland (WIMARQ) breakfast with leadership consultant and executive coach Rebecca Livesey from Achieve-Lead-Succeed on Thursday 24 May at Alchemy Bar and Restaurant in Brisbane. Over 50 females from the resources sector attended the breakfast forum to hear about “Captivating Leadership: Balancing Masculine and Feminine energy in leadership regardless of gender”.

MEC becomes an endorsed employer for women with WORK180

We’re pleased to share the news that we’ve joined other high-profile Australian companies as a WORK180 (previously known as DCC Jobs) endorsed employer for women. WORK180 is a job platform where employers are pre-screened to ensure they support women’s careers. Founded by Gemma Lloyd and Valeria Ignatieva, WORK180 only advertises jobs for companies that meet criteria on aspects such as paid parental leave, pay equity and flexible working.
