On Thursday the 20th of June 2019, leaders in business, community and government will sleep without shelter on one of the longest nights of the year to help change the lives of Australians experiencing homelessness through St Vincent de Pauls CEO Sleepout event.
On Thursday 21 June, MEC Mining’s General Manager – Operations, David Plowman, will sleep out on the longest night of the year on the cold, hard concrete of Brisbane’s Powerhouse as part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout®. It is David’s first time taking part in the annual event which has been supported by MEC Mining since 2015.
Congratulations to David Plowman, MEC Mining’s General Manager, for successfully navigating a month without alcohol!
David raised just over $1,200 during Ocsober, Life Education’s national fundraising initiative to reduce drug- and alcohol-related harm amongst young people.
Our MEC Mining General Manager, David Plowman, is giving the booze the boot this month to help Aussie kids.
MEC Mining’s Managing Director Simon Cohn is taking part in this year’s Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout. It’s the third time he’s taken part in the event which gives ordinary Australians the chance to walk a mile in the shoes of a homeless person.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout offers just a small glimpse into life on the streets. There are over 100,000 Australians who are homeless, sleeping rough each night. Each participant is asked to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia through their participation in the event. They are also asked to raise money for the St. Vincent de Paul Society through an online sponsorship for their sleep out.Continue reading “MEC Mining Needs your Help to Help Others”
