On Wednesday 3 May, MEC Mining hosted a breakfast forum at the Brisbane Club, which featured an exciting panel discussion with leading industry experts.

MEC Mining’s Senior Mining Consultant Geoff Watson and other Industry Professionals gathered in Brisbane last Thursday (20 April) to raise the awareness of risk management practices when conducting early project studies and major projects. Covering many of the key risk elements such as approval, environmental, resources, reserves and financial, lively discussion illustrated the importance of managing risk through effective controls throughout the project life cycle.
Jason joined MEC Mining in 2014 as an undergraduate engineer and since then he has thrived as a Mining Engineer, he currently holds a Bachelor of Mechanical and Mechtronics and completed his Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in 2015.

We have all seen the body builders that go from 10 pound weakling to Mr. Universe in the space of a year and we all know it was most likely not natural or sustainable for them in the long run. The side effects of their actions may not be immediate but are certainly not palatable to most, on the surface things look good but down below the true shrinkage is taking place. Metro Mining today announced the completion of the Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) for the Bauxite Hills Mine, confirming strong financial returns from the project and demonstrating the benefits from acquiring Gulf Alumina Limited (Gulf).
In January this year I set out to test the concept of crowd sourcing equipment benchmark data. We are now one month on from the initial survey responses and it is worth sharing the results so far.

At the end of this article I reckon I might be able to answer my own question.
The team and I were talking the other day about how hard it is to get real data that can be used for bench-marking equipment performance. It can be expensive and not always reliable. So I thought I would test the theory that most people have the same problem and most people hold a small piece of data about their own equipment that would help complete the overall puzzle for everyone.
