INTRODUCTION
An open cut coal mine in New South Wales requested an analysis of different mining options including direction of mining and waste dump sequencing. MEC’s schedule enabled managers to plan the adjustments in the excavation and hauling fleets whilst ensuring the stability of production. Over and above that, MEC’s recommendation was subsequently used for long term strategic planning and departmental approval. This is because MEC has a wealth of experience in best practice methodology and expertise in mine planning software, crucial in evaluating various mining options in changing conditions.
MEC’s Managing Director Simon Cohn is taking part in this year’s Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout. It’s the third time he’s taken part in the event which gives ordinary Australians the chance to walk a mile in the shoes of a homeless person.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout offers just a small glimpse into life on the streets. There are over 100,000 Australians who are homeless, sleeping rough each night. Each participant is asked to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia through their participation in the event. They are also asked to raise money for the St. Vincent de Paul Society through an online sponsorship for their sleep out.
MEC showcased their business offering at the 8th annual Mines and Money Hong Kong conference last month. The exhibition attracts stakeholders from all stages of the mining cycle, which makes it the perfect place for MEC to do what we do best: build relationships.
