Given the current volatile nature of the mining industry it is difficult to raise large sums of capital for lengthy feasibility studies. The present challenge is to provide our clients with cost-efficient mine plans as quickly as possible.
Each MEC project starts with a collaboration plan which lays out how we will tap into the knowledge held by our team of 40 engineers. Internal “crowdsourcing” through knowledge jams (efficient innovation workshops) allows us to access the information and provide the right solutions across a broad range of problems.

Shovel and excavator productivity has been in decline in Australia over the last few years, resulting in unnecessary wasted expenditure. MEC can assist in achieving optimal productivity. A move to optimal productivity can save $0.30 per bcm or $3 per tonne, as well as improving operating and safety conditions at the dig face. Large improvements can be achieved with simple and repeatable measures that concentrate on improving the basic cycle time of components.
