MEC Mining heads to Brisbane Mining Club

MEC Mining is pleased to be attending the next Brisbane Mining Club (BMC) forum at the Grand Ballroom at the Brisbane Tattersall’s Club on Thursday 17 May 2018. The BMC holds regular lunchtime events that provide an opportunity to network and hear high-profile speakers give personal insights into the domestic and global mining industry.

Metro Mining‘s Managing Director and CEO Mr Simon Finnis will be the guest speaker for this week’s lunch forum. The MEC team is excited to hear from Simon, who joined Metro Mining as CEO in January 2015 and was appointed to the board in January 2017. Simon is an experienced executive with a 30 year career in both underground and open cut mining. Metro Mining is unique, as it has developed, and is operating its flagship Bauxite Hills Mine 95 kilometres north of Weipa, the first significant and independent direct shipping ore bauxite project in Australia. Bauxite is not well known as a commodity, so Simon’s address will concentrate on the recent commencement of mining operations at the Bauxite Hills Mine and highlight the emerging bauxite commodity market.
