Developing future leaders at MEC Mining’s networking event

MEC Mining hosted a networking event at Alchemy Restaurant & Bar on Friday 1st November 2019 which covered an area that can be quite daunting for individuals: How to make those difficult decisions and have those challenging conversations in a workplace.

As an industry, mining is focusing more than ever on operating discipline and achieving the bottom line. With the introduction of new technology and increase in geological complexity, managing the performance and productivity of teams is proving more difficult.

At this event, our panel shared their approaches to making difficult decisions and having challenging conversations to positively affect the workplace. MEC Mining’s Principal of Learning & Development, Loren Ager chaired the evening discussion.

 Panellists included:

  • Chris Catania – General Manager Operations at MEC Mining
  • Terry Burgess – Chair at Tonsley Innovation District Steering Committee
  • Leanne Hughes – Facilitator | Keynote Speaker | Coach at Leanne Hughes

We are proud that our Graduate Program team came along and participated in the discussion, as this reflects how the program is engaging us with bright new industry talent and secures a pipeline of quality engineers for MEC into the future.

A huge thank you again to our panellists for taking the time out of their busy schedules to support such a valuable discussion that will help shape the future.
