On Thursday 23 November, MEC Mining hosted a relaxed networking event and technical talk at the Moranbah Workers Club in Moranbah, Queensland.
Over twenty mining industry professionals attended the event to hear MEC’s story about strategically optimising the extraction of a steeply dipping coking coal deposit in chilly Russia.
At the technical talk, General Manager of Strategy and Business Development, Maria Joyce introduced Principal Mining Engineer Christofer Catania, who brings over a decade of experience working in coal and metalliferous deposits right across Australia, Norway, Sepon, Russia and Kazakhstan.
Chris dug deep into the technical rigour of Lerchs Grossman, and provided personal insights into both the cultural and environmental challenges he faced working on the other side of the planet.
Chris started his career working in the Bowen Basin and has recently re-joined MEC after returning from a 2-year stint in Kazakhstan, at one of the biggest known copper deposits in the Northern Hemisphere.
Thank you to our valued clients and colleagues for attending the event, we enjoyed catching up with you all and sharing some of our stories.
